ECCO was established by Birte and Karl Toosbuy in 1963 with a vision to create footwear that combined style with comfort. The company started operations in a province in Denmark and, by the end of its first year, employed 74 people. The company’s first designs comprised pointy toes and thin heels and were launched under the name “Venus.” The shoes were an immediate success and ended up being compared with renowned French designer Charles Jourdan by a fashion magazine.
That was the beginning of an extraordinary business journey. The brand strived to maintain its hype and worth in the fashion industry by staying ahead of its competitors and changing trends. In 1978, ECCO launched its first classic shoe called ECCO JOKE. Its design was a modern spin on the original moccasin style, and this iconic line was the first shoe in the world to have a logo moulded into the sole.
ECCO did not fail to incorporate technology throughout the years and ensured that its designs remained one step ahead. After the demise of the founder, Karl Toosbuy, the company was passed on to his daughter Hanni Toosbuy Kapsrzak and her husband, Dieter Kasprzak. The two injected fresh perspectives and ideas into the business and helped take it to new heights.
The year 2012 saw a breakthrough in the shoe fashion industry when ECCO launched Sculptured 65. The design Sculptured line is a core ECCO product and what made it extraordinary was how the company combined a sleek and feminine 65mm high-heeled shoe with all-day comfort.
Today, ECCO is manufacturing worldwide and is well-known for comfort footwear made from the finest materials and advanced footwear technology. Over the years, the ECCO has pioneered new trends in everyday leisure and outdoor footwear designs, and its long-standing partnership with Gore-Tex has given users some of their all-time favourite shoes.
Are ECCO shoes good for your feet?
ECCO shoes are made on direct injection polyurethane sole units; a brand spearheaded construction innovation. Direct injection is considered the best sole construction method in footwear as it ensures the soles are hard-wearing, lightweight, shock-absorbent, flexible, and long-lasting. These characteristics make ECCO shoes highly comfortable and supportive.
Why Podiatrists recommend ECCO shoes
Since ECCO shoes are known for their comfort, support, and style, many podiatrists recommend them to patients. The shoes have in-built support around the heel and the arch, which makes them an excellent choice for people who have to stand for long periods or have a very active lifestyle. The support element on the shoes ensures proper foot alignment, and the removable insoles offer space for additional orthotics if needed.
Should you wear ECCO shoes if you have back pain?
Back pain rises from inadequate shock absorption in the feet, and since they bear the full weight of our body, uncomfortable shoes can cause lasting pain. While different people can suffer from all kinds of back ailments and pain, wearing shoes with more shock absorption can reduce the effects of pounding heels. ECCO shoes are ideal for anyone facing back pain because their shoes are structured and more rigid– with excellent shock absorption ability. In addition, they offer more room in the toe box to allow your feet to expand throughout the day, thereby increasing overall comfort.
What makes ECCO good for wide feet?
Have you repeatedly tried on a pair of shoes only to find that it’s tight on the sides while being perfect in length? Several people struggle with finding shoes that fit wide feet comfortably. Luckily, ECCO shoes offer a brilliant solution to this common problem. They are uniquely designed to fit from the heel to the instep, which is an improvement from traditional shoes that fit across the toes.
Did you know that your foot size varies throughout the day? It means that if your shoes fit you snugly in the morning, they will feel stuffy by evening. ECCO understands this natural phenomenon and ensures that its shoes fit a large variety of feet comfortably for extended periods.
